Troi was born to a single-mother, she has an older brother and sister, and two younger brothers, and never knew her father. It didn't matter to her much, but she wondered sometimes. Her parents were an on and off again kind of thing, but eventually fell apart because her mother couldn't justify waiting around on him anymore. Her mother had a difficult time raising the kids, and a few of her lovers, which she kept finding in order to pay the bills, decided the kids were interesting and suddenly disappeared. Her mother had little tolerance for it, and mostly by now Troi's forgotten it.
Her mother was insistent about her going through school and graduating. They almost always had a roof over their heads at least, but it was tough and tragedy struck more than once, and the family has lost their home many times, lost everything they had, but Troi's mother always picked back up and did what she had to do to get her kids through it. Troi later became friends with a lot of the homeless bunch, because they were homeless from time to time too, and she wanted to make sure there were friends out there on the streets if they ended up on them too. She started running with a group in San Myshuno, some homeless, some not. They weren't a gang, but they got caught up in gang violence from time to time, and plenty of them got shot over the years, though one of them, one of only two white Sims in the bunch, had a habit of shoving the others out of the way of bullets and taking them instead. Troi kind of looked up to him. He was the strongest of them, in her eyes.
Troi later graduated from high school, and earned scholarships to college. She graduated from Foxbury Institute with a distinguished degree in Biology with honors, and became a doctor. Her mother is terminally ill, now, her father's still who knows where, but her siblings are doing okay, and now it's her turn to take care of her mama.
